Island of the Uros and Taquile
Great classic ride on the Lake Titicaca UrosTaquile where we visit the floating islands of the Uros built with the “The Totora is a Aquatic Plant”, we will know its history, customs and the daily life of its inhabitants, we will continue sailing towards the natural island of Taquile, recognized for its textile art to World level by UNESCO, we will appreciate their hand-woven crafts, and their beautiful lake view.
PROGRAM:
The tour begins with the transfer of the Hotel (Downtown) to the Port of Puno to board the boat to the Uros Floating Islands and Taquile, as the first destination we will visit the Uros Islands, located 7 kilometers from the city of Puno, with a duration of approximately 25 to 30 minutes by boat. We will visit 02 of more than 90 islands, where we will know its way of life, history, customs, clothing, main activities such as crafts, tourism and artisanal fishing. We will share new experiences with the families approximately one hour and thirty minutes, where the guide will explain in detail about the construction of floating islands, built and finished based on totora, then the native family will invite us to take an additional ride on their typical boats Of totora, the route lasts approximately 20 min. (Optional), heading to the capital island where you will find restaurants, snack shops, trout hatcheries and a variety of local handicrafts.
Our journey continues towards the Natural Island of Taquile (Intika in Quechua), with an estimated time of 2 hours and 30 min. Approximately, when we arrive we will make a walk for forty minutes. To get to the main square of the village where we will have contact with the locals, our guide will explain their history, typical clothing, hand knitting, handicrafts, main activities, traditions and customs. Then we will taste the delicious lunch offered by a local restaurant next to the main square overlooking the lake, then we will have free time to visit the surroundings, to know its temples and traditional stone arches.
